Wilmington University Mourns the Loss of Golf Alumnus Sam Clark

NEWARK, Del. - - It is with much sadness that the Wilmington University athletics department and golf program received news of the loss of former student-athlete Sam Clark ('17). Sam fought a courageous battle with cancer, succumbing to the illness on Tuesday, February 27.

Sam Clark (Hampstead, Md.) was a four-time All-CACC performer on the golf course for the Wildcats, earning CACC Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman in 2014. He has the 11th best scoring average in program history, finishing 110 rounds with a 76.55 average. He is still sixth in program history with 15 rounds of par or less, playing the second most rounds in program history (110). In four years, 87.5 percent of his scorecards were counted towards the team score, sixth best in program history.

The family will welcome friends on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 63 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, with Father Gerard Francik as celebrant.
