Senior Brandon Fox Honored with the Sam Cozen Small College Player of the Week Award

PHILADELPHIA - - Wilmington University men's basketball senior Brandon Fox was honored as the Sam Cozen Small College Player of the Week by the Philadelphia Area Small College Coaches Association at its luncheon on Tuesday, February 19 at the University of the Sciences.

Now in its 26th season, the Philadelphia Area Small College Coaches Association honors area small college basketball players at their bi-weekly luncheons, not only for the performance on the court, but for their leadership and academic success, ideals emphasized by the late Sam Cozen, longtime coach at Drexel University and for whom the award is named.

Fox, a Deptford, N.J., native started all four games in which the Wildcats played, averaging 13 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, helping the team to a 1-3 record in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule. Fox averaged over 30 minutes per contest, 3.3 assists per game, as well as 2.3 blocks per game during the two week stretch.

Starting the month against Nyack, Fox had one of his best defensive games of his two year career at Wilmington, grabbing nine rebounds while blocking a career high five shots. He also dished out four assists against the Warriors.

The scoring end of Fox's game came to life at Chestnut Hill on February 5, scoring 17 points while hitting his lone three-pointer of the two week stretch. His 17 points led the Wildcats that evening, while he also dished out five more assists. He collected two steals while scoring 13 points at Philadelphia before again scoring 17 points and grabbing seven rebounds in the team's lone win against Caldwell this past Saturday. His 17 points on Saturday were again a team high.

It is the first such award for Fox in his career, becoming the second Wildcat honored at the bimonthly luncheon as classmate Isiah Mason was honored on January 22.

The middle level education major will lead the Wildcats for two more games this season, as they head to Bloomfield in a makeup contest on Thursday before hosting Senior Day on Saturday against Philadelphia.
