Brandon Grygo and Tyler Quinn Named CACC Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Wilmington University athletics department had two more Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week for the spring season, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The baseball team with 6-2 last week, led by its freshman leadoff hitter Brandon Grygo, as he was named the CACC Player and Co-Rookie of the Week. The men's lacrosse team went 2-0 to stay undefeated in CACC play last week, headlined by sophomore Tyler Quinn being named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week.

Brandon Grygo (New Castle, Del.) led the Wildcats to a 6-2 week, batting 15-for-28 (.536) with five doubles, two triples, and one walk-off home run. He tied for the team lead with eight RBI while doubling that with 16 runs scored. He slugged .964 for the week while reaching base at a .649 clip, totaling a 1.613 OPS.

Grygo had multiple hits in all but one game last week, with a weeks' high three hits with a double against West Chester. Went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and two stolen bases against Chestnut Hill. Batted 4-for-7 with a double, triple, and four RBI in a sweep of Bridgeport. Batted 4-for-9 with a double and five runs in a doubleheader at Chestnut Hill. Went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk-off homer in the bottom of the eighth inning in game one against Post, adding three runs scored.

Tyler Quinn (Barnegat, N.J.) led the defensive unit of the men's lacrosse team as they went 2-0 to stay unbeaten in CACC play last week. He finished the week with three caused turnovers and five groundballs. All three caused turnovers came in a battle for first place with Georgian Court, adding three ground balls as well. Scooped up two ground balls in a win at Caldwell as well.

Miles Crouse was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Wildcats with 12 points. Makenzie Stritzinger was named to the women's lacrosse's Weekly Honor Roll after scoring seven goals to go with three assists and 13 draws. Softball's Taylor Gillis was named to her sport's Weekly Honor Roll after leading the team to a 6-2 week with a .591 batting average and 14 RBI.
