NEWARK, Del. - - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America have announced the 2015 NSCAA All-America Teams for NCAA Division II and Wilmington University men's soccer standout Clifford Nwechefom was named Second Team All-American.
The junior midfielder becomes the first Wildcat to be named an NSCAA All-American after also being named First Team NSCAA and CCA All-East Region. Nwechefom (Port Harcourt, Nigeria) guided the Wildcats to a 15-6 overall record, leading the team to a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Regular Season Championship and a bid into the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament.
Nwechefom was named the CACC Player of the Year after leading the conference with 18 goals this season. He also added four assists and was leading the CACC in points until Berry's late season charge. Nwechefom finished with 40 points on the year. His 18 goals rank second all-time for a single season in program history.
The midfielder scored a season's high three goals against Goldey-Beacom on October 20. Nwechefom scored multiple goals four goals this season, finding the back of the net in 13 games this season.
Nwechefom is the lone representative from the CACC to be named All-American, while joining eight others from the East Region on one of the three All-American teams.
He is the first All-American for the program since Elton Joe was named an Honorable Mention Daktronics All-American in 2013, and only the second All-American since the 2009 season.
