Richard Thompson and Marcus Hedemann Earn Second Team All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches

NEWARK, Del. - - Sophomores Richard Thompson and Marcus Hedemann were named to the 2022 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Men's All-East Second Team after leading the Wildcats to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Semifinal.

The Wildcats were 10-5-5 overall in 2022, going 7-2-3 in CACC play. They earned the No. 4 seed in the CACC Tournament and defeated No. 5 Jefferson, 2-1, in the CACC Tournament Quarterfinal before falling to eventual champion Post, 3-2, in the semifinals. They finished No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches East Region Rankings.

It is the second year in a row that Richard Thompson (Montego Bay, Jamaica) has been named Second Team All-Region, earning the distinction by the D2CCA as a freshman. Thompson played in 16 games at right back this season, making 15 starts. He scored a goal and added five assists for seven points. He assisted on goal in three straight games against Caldwell, Chestnut Hill and Dominican, and scored his lone goal of the year at Georgian Court. He also assists in each game of the playoffs coming back from injury. He now has 15 career assists in two seasons as a defender.

Marcus Hedemann (Hillerod, Denmark) was a Second Team All-CACC performer atop the Wildcats' formation in 2022. He finished second on the team with 15 points, scoring seven goals while adding one assist. He scored both goals of a 2-0 win against Post on September 24 and scored single goals I five different games. He had game-winners against nationally No. 6 Millersville and Post. He also assisted on the lone goal of a 1-0 win against West Chester.

Both Thompson and Hedemann were voted Second Team All-CACC in their sophomore seasons.
