Men’s Soccer Slips to No. 7 in Week 2 of the United Soccer Coaches Regional Polls

NEWARK, Del. - - The second week of the United Soccer Coaches Regional Rankings have been announced and the Wilmington University men's soccer team has slipped to seventh after a 0-1-1 week against tough competition.

The Wildcats faced a pair of regionally ranked teams from the Atlantic Region last week, tying currently ranked No. 5 West Chester, 1-1, before falling to Gannon, 2-1, in the home opener on Saturday. Gannon shot all the way up to the No. 1 spot in this week's Atlantic Regional Poll, standing at 4-0-0. They were ranked No. 6 when the Wildcats and Knights played on Saturday.

The No. 1 team in the country continues to be from the East Region, as Franklin Pierce is now 3-0-0. Southern New Hampshire holds at No. 2, as does Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe Post at No. 3.

Fellow CACC member Caldwell slides up one to No. 4 followed by Mercy and New Haven in front of the Wildcats at No. 7. Southern Connecticut State, Saint Rose, and St. Thomas Aquinas round out Week 2 of the Regional Poll.

The Wildcats' next three opponents are all regionally ranked this week, as Wilmington opens its CACC play this Saturday at Post. The Eagles are ranked No. 19 this week's National Poll as well. Kickoff in Waterbury, Connecticut, is set for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
