NEW CASTLE, Del. - - The Wilmington University softball team used a game two victory to split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with Concordia on Saturday, 2-6 and 7-2, at Asbury Field.

Concordia (3-16, 2-12 CACC) scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to decide game one while the Wildcats (17-17, 9-5 CACC) scored four in the third of game two to take command.

Trailing 2-0 after three innings in the first game, Michelle Panasiti hit her third home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth, tying the game and bringing life to the Wildcats. But the Clippers scored four unearned runs in the top of the sixth, aided by a two out error in the field to steal the victory.

The Clippers' Hannah Rubasky stymied the Wildcats throughout the first game, throwing a complete game three-hitter while striking out three batters.

The Wildcats came out with fire in the second game, getting a run in the bottom of the first to set the tone. Kelsey Doherty led off the inning with a bullet to center field that hit off the fence for a double. She would eventually score the game's first run on a wild pitch.

The home team than took advantage of a pair of Clipper errors in the third inning, scoring four runs to break the game open. Miranda Pedersen grounded one to third that went between the fielder's legs to allow the first run of the inning to come home. Rice Fazio knocked in a run with a fielder's choice before another run came around to score on a throwing error on the same play. Chelsea Botsch doubled to left field, which brought the final run of the inning to the plate.

Megan Logullo's RBI single to third in the fifth inning made it 6-0 in favor of the Wildcats before Colby Wyatt's RBI on a fielder's choice rounded out the Wildcat scoring in the fifth inning,

Wilmington used five Clipper errors to score five unearned runs in the game, but also collected eight hits. Panasiti went 2-for-4 while Doherty, Logullo, Wyatt, Ashley Bennett, Shannon McMahon, and Botsch each ended with one hit in the nightcap.

Senior Stephanie Sarris tossed a complete game two-hitter, striking out seven batters in the win. She allowed two earned runs in the top of the seventh, but improved to 8-6 from in the circle on the season.

Tuesday's doubleheader against USciences has been pushed up a day due to the threat of incoming weather on Tuesday. The CACC doubleheader will now be played on Monday as Asbury Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
