Renamarie Rocha Named CACC Pitcher of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Sophomore pitcher Renamarie Rocha won all three games she appeared in the circle last week, earning her Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday, as announced by the conference office.

Renamarie Rocha (Garden Grove, Calif.) led the Wildcats to a 5-1 week, going 3-0 in 20.2 innings pitched, striking out 12 while only allowing one walk, and finishing with a 2.03 earned run average. It is the first time in her career that she has been named the CACC Pitcher of the Week.

She started game two against Holy Family, throwing a complete game while striking out a week's high six batters. She allowed four runs on eight hits in the 5-4 win. Rocha then came on in the first inning of game two against Georgian Court, working out of the jam and then pitching the rest of the game, leading the Wildcats to a 12-6 win and the sweep of the Lions. She allowed three runs (one earned) on eight hits while striking out two in 6.2 innings of work. She finished off the week with a complete game against Post, picking up the split against the Eagles. She struck out four while only allowing one run on seven hits in the 4-1 win.

Renamarie Rocha now leads the team with a 2.97 ERA on the season, going 7-1 with two saves in 19 appearances (nine starts). She has 38 strikeouts in 75.1 innings pitched.

Caldwell's Courtney Grundhauser was named the CACC Player of the Week while her teammate Jessica Klein was named the Rookie of the Week.

The Wildcats' Emma Zimmerman and Courtney Dellinger were mentioned on the Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Wildcats offensively.
