NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Despite a tough, three-point loss to Georgian Court in its only contest last week, Wilmington University women's basketball freshman Tenicia Spence outshined the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, earning her second CACC Rookie of the Week award of the 2012-13 season.

Spence led the Wildcats (3-15, 1-10 CACC) by setting a new career high with 31 points, tying for the tenth most points in a single contest in program history. She hit on 11-of-23 shots from the floor, adding an 8-for-11 performance from the foul line. Current senior Danielle Thomas was the last Wildcat to record a 30-point game, hitting the feat against Cheyney with 32 points on November 17, 2010. 

The Baltimore, Md. native also grabbed six rebounds, dished out three assists and recorded a steal in the 68-65 loss to the Lions.

The criminal justice major remains the third leading scorer in the CACC, averaging 17.1 points per game. Spence only trails University of the Sciences sophomore Brianne Traub (18.8 points per game) and Caldwell's senior Torey Jones (17.3 points per game).

Felician's Trina Plummer, a junior forward from West Babylon, N.Y., joins Spence in the CACC Weekly Report, claiming the CACC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She scored a career-high 27 points with 12 rebounds in a 64-57 victory last Tuesday against Nyack. Plummer earned nearly half of her points from the line, connecting on 13 of her 18 attempts.

Goldey-Beacom's senior Irene Hudson, Holy Family's senior Erin Mann, and Post's junior Aubry Latham were also mentioned in the weekly report, each earning a spot as an CACC Women's Basketball Honorable Mention.

It is the second time this season Spence has been named the CACC Rookie of the Week, as she also earned the honor following the first week of the season on November 19, 2012.   

Spence will look to lead the Wildcats in snapping its current five-game losing streak on Saturday in the team's only contest of the week. Wilmington heads to Concordia for a 1 p.m. tip.
