NEWARK, Del. - - The 2017-18 season finds the Wilmington University women's basketball team and head coach Rob Miller playing 15 home games and participating in an early season tournament as their returning trek to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament begins.

Wilmington will look to improve upon its 12-16 overall mark from a year ago, going 9-10 in the CACC. The Wildcats played for a spot in the CACC Tournament on the final day of the regular season last year, but finished fifth in the South Division, narrowly missing the postseason. They are looking to return to the CACC Tournament for the first time since the 2009-10 season.

The Lady Wildcats will take to the road to start the 2017-18 season as they travel to host Holy Family University to take part in the NE10/CACC challenge on November 10-11. The Cats open play against Franklin Pierce on Friday at 7:00 p.m. They will then take on Bentley University on Saturday, rounding out the opening weekend with tip-off scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

The first chance to catch the Wildcats in action at the WU Athletics Complex will come on November 14 when they host Clarion on November 14. They then head to the University of the District of Columbia on November 18 and round out the home portion of their November schedule when they take on Bowie State on the November 20. The Cats close out the month of November when they make the short trip to Lincoln (Pa.) on November 28.

The month of December finds the Cats with six games before the Holiday Break, four of which are home. They start the month as they take on LIU Post (ECC) on December 2. The Cats will open up CACC play at the WU Athletic Complex on December 5 as they play host to Holy Family. They will then head across town, as they take on in-state rival Goldey-Beacom on December 9. The Wildcats welcome Lock Haven (PSAC) to the WU Athletics Complex for a game on the 17th before heading to Jefferson on the 19th before heading on the mandatory Holiday Break. The Wildcats get back to action with their final game of 2017 on the 30th, hosting USciences in CACC action.

As the New Year begins, the Wildcats will focus their attention on the CACC as all but one game in the second half of the season will be in conference. In January, the Wildcats will host Georgian Court, Concordia, Jefferson, and Felician, while taking to the road to battle Chestnut Hill, Nyack, Holy Family, and USciences.

February starts with a home game against Bloomfield before they play their final nonconference game of the regular season. They will head to Salem International on February 6. The regular season rounds out with an away game at Dominican, home games against Chestnut Hill and Post, an away game at Georgian Court and Senior Day against Goldey-Beacom on February 24.

As the season comes to a close, the Cats hope to have reached their goal of being one of the top four teams in the South Division and playing in the CACC Tournament. The first round will be played on February 27 and is hosted by the higher seed.  The CACC Semifinals and Championship will be hosted this year by Jefferson University on March 3-4.
