Candice Walker joined the Wilmington women’s basketball staff for the 2013-14 season after a successful career on the court for the Loyola University Maryland Greyhounds. She begins her second year with the Wildcats in 2014-15

Walker, a native of Baltimore, Md., was a four-year letterwinner for the Greyhounds, completing her senior season on the court in 2012-13. Her career started off by being named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2007-08 after becoming the first true freshman to start for Loyola at the point guard position since the 1991-92 season.

As a freshman, Walker led the MAAC rookies with 252 points and 93 assists while also leading the conference rookies in minutes played. She was named MAAC Rookie of the Week four times as a freshman. She played, and started, in all 30 games for the 2007-08 season.

Walker started 24 games while playing in all 30 as a sophomore in 2008-09, averaging 5.8 points with a team high 74 assists. As a sophomore, she set a career high with eight assists against Towson on November 19.

An injury derailed her junior season after only four games in 2009-10. Walker came back as a redshirt junior in 2010-11, playing in 33 games. She scored a season high nine points against Iona on February 25 and hit the game-winning shot in overtime against Siena on February 12.

Another injury derailed her senior season after two games and was granted a medical hardship waiver to play a sixth year in 2012-13. Came back and played in 18 games as a senior, making one start. Scored a season high five points against Maryland on November 11 and added a season high three assists twice.

Following her on court career, Walker was a coach at the Point Guard College, and is a graduate from WBCA’s April 2013 “So You Want to be A Coach”.

Walker graduated from Loyola with a Bachelors of Arts in 2011 before earning her Masters of Arts in May 2012.

She currently resides in Baltimore, Md.
