LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. - - The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup on the road at Chestnut Hill, 18-8, on Tuesday afternoon played at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.

The Wildcats (0-9, 0-3 CACC) were unable to gain any momentum in the contest, failing to produce back-to-back goals until the five four minutes of the game. Chestnut Hill (2-5, 2-2 CACC) put strings of three, four, and five goals together throughout the 60 minutes of action, taking control with five straight over an eight minute stretch early in the second half to widen its lead.

Senior Jaclyn Hall put the Wildcats on the board first, scoring the game's first goal only 27 seconds into the contest. After Chestnut Hill tied the game at 1-1, sophomore Rebekah McCurry gave the visitors another 2-1 lead with an unassisted goal with 25:02 remaining in the opening half.

But then the Griffins responded with four straight goals, the final coming with 10:55 to play in the half to gain a 5-2 advantage and never looked back.

Another five straight from the Griffins, after Brittany Rhodes opened the second half to cut the deficit to 9-5, really hurt the Wildcats as the home team's lead ballooned to 14-5 with 17:15 to play in regulation.

Chestnut Hill outshot the Wildcats, 33-21, for the game while also leading in all majoring categories. The Griffins also collected more ground balls, 14-13, controlled more draws, 15-13, and had fewer turnovers, 14-17, in the contest. The biggest discrepancy in the stats came with team fouls, as the Wildcats committed 48 fouls to the Griffins' 21.

The fouls turned into a 6-for-12 on free-position shots for Chestnut Hill, going 4-for-6 from eighth-meters in the second half. Wilmington went 2-for-4 in the first half, shooting 3-for-7 overall on free-position shots.

Kaitlyn Hall made six stops in goal for the Wildcats, while Jennifer Delahanty recorded four saves for the home team.

Jaclyn Hall led the Wildcat offense with three goals on the afternoon, while McCurry and Megan Keffer tallied two goals apiece. McCurry also tallied the team's lone assist on the afternoon, finishing with five points. It is the third straight game in which Keffer recorded two goals.

The Wildcats return home for their next three games, all against CACC opponents. All three games will occur over six days, starting with CACC rival Philadelphia on Wednesday, April 3. The opening draw is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex.
