Wilmington’s Loran Wyrough Named Women’s Soccer Second Team All-CACC

Wilmington University women's soccer redshirt freshman Loran Wyrough was named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Second Team on Monday, as announced by the conference office.

The redshirt freshman led the Wildcats (6-11, 6-6 CACC) with nine goals and 21 points, finishing in a tie for second on the team with three assists. Her 21 points ranks sixth in the CACC while her nine goals are fifth in the conference.

Wyrough (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) scored the first goal of the season just 14:25 into the season at West Chester. She also recorded her first two-goal game of her career against Holy Family on September 18 and her first career assist against Chestnut Hill on September 23.

The midfielder recorded the first hat trick since the 2012 season, scoring three goals against Bloomfield on October 11, including the first two tallies of the contest. Wyrough's latest goal came against Georgian Court last week, tying the game in the 85th minute to send the game into overtime.

Post's Renel Davis was voted as the 2014 CACC Player of the Year by the league's head coaches while Georgian Court's Elizabeth Kroon was named the 2014 CACC Rookie of the Year. For the first time ever, the CACC has a new award as Philadelphia's Hannah Palese was named the 2014 CACC Defensive Player of the Year.

The conference's sports information directors voted Post's Matt Micros as the 2014 CACC Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to a 9-2-1 conference record and a No. 2 seed in the CACC Tournament. Bloomfield College earned the 2014 CACC Sportsmanship Award.

The Wildcats open the CACC Tournament on Monday at Philadelphia for the quarterfinal round. The Wildcats earned the No. 8 seed for the Tournament and play against the Rams who were the CACC Regular Season Champions and the No. 1 seed starting at 2 p.m.
