Bill Shute joined the Wilmington University women's soccer program with his first season in 2023. Shute has been coaching soccer for the past 20 years with experience at all levels of soccer from grass roots soccer, all ages of club soccer all the way up to semi-pro women’s soccer. Shute comes to Wilmington University with a ton of experience and holds many coaching licenses including a US Soccer National B license, US Futsal license and US Youth Futsal coaching license.

Shute will be lending his expertise to assist Coach Zoyac and Assistant Coach Palmucci with all bettering the program including running training sessions, improving the attack and possession, assisting with player recruitment, film evaluation and scouting opponents.

Shute is known as much for his passion for coaching as he is for his attention to detail.  He is also known for his infusion of Soccer I.Q, topics into training and is known for developing extremely intelligent soccer players. As a result of his work and efforts in the youth soccer ranks, Shute was awarded the NJ Youth Soccer / Bob McNulty New Jersey Youth Soccer Coach of the Year Award in January, 2015.

Shute takes an approach that “all the little things matter” looking to improve quality of touch, speed of play, and awareness in every aspect of the game. He demands that all teams under his supervision establish a family atmosphere and develop synergy on and off the field. This is created as a result of the respect, caring and compassion he gives to each of his players as well as the team family unit.

Shute coaches club soccer for SJEB FC in the prestigious Girls Academy League. In that capacity Shute wears many hats including coaching multiple girl’s teams and running the SJEB FC Summer 4 v 4 League to help players improve via small sided play. Shute also runs the College Advisory Program (CAP) for SJEB FC helping club soccer players successfully find the right college fit.

For the past two seasons he has coached the SJEB FC Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPS) team, coaching them to the Eastern Regional Championship and WPSL Final Four in Oklahoma, and also coached them to an 8 – 1 record this season and winning the WPSL Mid-Atlantic Colonial Division.

Shute is excited to be a part of the Wilmington Wildcats Women’s Soccer and looks to forward to helping the WilmU women have their best season yet. He pledges to continue learn and expand his knowledge as he works to help the players of the team do the same.
