NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Now in its third year of existence, the Wilmington University women's tennis team will look to take yet another leap forward in 2018, as the team was picked third with 56 points in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced by the conference office Friday.

The Wildcats advanced to the 2017 CACC Tournament Championship match in their second season as a program, narrowly falling to the East Region's number one team Goldey-Beacom, 5-3, in the final. The Wildcats went 12-8 overall last year, going 6-2 in the CACC and again just missing out on postseason play in the spring.

Those same Lightning sit atop this year's CACC Preseason Poll, earning five first place votes for 77 total points. They narrowly finished ahead of Concordia who earned four first place votes and 75 points for second. The Wildcats, who defeated Concordia in the CACC Tournament Semifinals, picked up 56 points for third place overall.

USciences grabbed 46 points for fourth place while Jefferson picked up 41 points for fifth place to round out the expected participants in the 2018 CACC Tournament.
