LAKEWOOD, N.J. - - The Wilmington University volleyball team committed only seven errors on over 100 attack attempts, leading the Wildcats to a 3-1 victory over Georgian Court to remain unbeaten in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, on Wednesday evening at the Wellness Center.

Led by the team's two middle hitters Katie Shorter and Brittany Biddle, who both hit over .500 and had had multiple blocks, Wilmington improved to 11-4 overall and moved to 3-0 in the CACC. The Lions (4-7, 1-2 CACC) forced a fourth set by winning the third frame, 25-222, but it wasn't enough for a rally.

Set scores for the match were 25-19, 25-17, 22-25, and 25-20.

Biddle did not commit an error on the match, knocking down nine kills on 17 swings for a .529 attack percentage. Shorter, the reigning CACC Player of the Week, finished with eight kills while committing one error on 13 attempts for a team high .538 percentage. On the outside, Nicole Wiechecki led all attackers with 15 kills, and joined Biddle in not committing an error for the match, making it three Wildcats above.500 hitting average. She ended with a .536 swing percentage, taking 28 attempts.

As a team, the Wildcats hit .330 (45-7-115) and held Georgian Court to a subpar .154 (34-13-136) average.

Shorter and Biddle also dominated defensively at the net, as Shorter picked up two solo blocks and had a hand in six block assists for a total of five of the team's 12 total blocks. Biddle had a hand on four block assists while freshman Alex Siolos aided with five block assists. The Wildcats out-blocked the Lions, 12-7.

Wiechecki was one dig off form a double-double and reigning CACC Rookie of the week Kaitlin DiGiacinto added to the outside with seven kills and seven digs.

Both Siolos and sophomore setter Kasey Couch picked up double-doubles, as Siolos passed out 21 assists and added 12 digs, while Couch picked up 17 assists and added 10 digs on the night.

The Wildcats hit .400 as a team in the first set and ended the match by only making one error in the fourth set, finishing with a .321 hitting percentage. The only set they did not hit over .300 was the third game, which the Lions won.

Wilmington will remain in conference for a majority of the rest of the season, as return home on Saturday after an 11-day hiatus from the WU Athletics Complex. The Wildcats square off against Nyack on Saturday at noon.
