Elly Collins and Shannen Litten Earn D2CCA Second Team All-Region Honors

NEWARK, Del. - - For the second year in a row, the Wilmington University volleyball team produced two all-region performers, as Elly Collins and Shannen Litten were named to the 2023 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Volleyball All-East Region Second Team.

Elly Collins (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) becomes the first Wildcat in the program's NCAA era to be named All-Region in two separate seasons, earning Second Team Accolades by the D2CCA last year as well. Shannen Litten (Leonardtown, Md.) joins the list of three previous Wilmington middle hitters to earn All-Region, earning Second Team honors for the first time in her career. Of the four Wildcats who have ever earned All-Region, Elly Collins is the only non-middle hitter.

Elly Collins finished the 2023 as the NCAA Division II leader in digs with 644, leading the CACC and ranking ninth in the country in averaging 5.50 digs per set. She had double digits digs in every match this year, including 16 matches with 20 or more digs and three matches with 30 or more digs. She had a season-high 35 digs at regionally ranked No. 1 Adelphi. She was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season as well.

Shannen Litten took over the starting middle role in her second season as a Wildcat and ended up leading the CACC in averaging 1.07 blocks per set, ranking 56th in all of NCAA Division II. Her 124 total blocks this year are the 20th most in the country and rank seventh most in a single season in program history. Litten had a season high nine blocks twice this season, first at regionally ranked No. 1 Adelphi (three solo), and again against Georgian Court. She also had eight total blocks in the season opener at Millersville. Offensively, she averages 1.93 kills a set, finishing the year with six matches with double digit kills. She had a season high 16 kills while hitting .577 at Bloomfield. She also had eight kills without committing an error against Goldey-Beacom, hitting a season's best .800 in the match.

New Haven's Macy Brown was voted the D2CCA NCAA Division II Volleyball East Region Player of the Year. In total, 10 of the East Region honorees will begin play for the NCAA Division II East Region Championship and a spot in the Final Eight on Thursday, November 30 with the 2023 regional championship being hosted by top seed Adelphi University at The Center for Recreation and Sport.

Last season was the first time the Wildcats produced two All-Region honors in the same season, as Elly Collins and Kacey Affrunti were voted All-Region.

Sports Information Directors from NCAA Division II East Region schools and conferences selected the two CCA All-Region teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced at the NCAA Division II Final Eight Championship.
