Wilmington University Places 13 Student-Athletes on 2015 CACC Fall All-Academic Teams

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Commissioner Dan Mara announce on Friday that 215 student-athlete were named to the Fall 2015 All-Academic Teams for the league's six fall championships sports, including men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis, and volleyball.

The 215 student-athletes represent the second highest total in conference history for the fall season, narrowly trailing last year's mark of 218.

In order to be named to the CACC Fall All-Academic Team, recipients must have participated in a CACC Championship sport in the fall. They must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the spring semester of 2015.

Of the 215 student-athletes across the CACC, 13 were Wilmington University student-athletes competing in four of the fall championship sports. Six men's soccer student-athletes lead the fall teams followed by volleyball's four student-athletes. The men's cross country team placed two runners while women's soccer rounded out the Wildcats with one representative.

The volleyball team has a pair of players that are being honored for the third time in their careers, led by seniors Kaitlin DiGiacinto and Alex Siolos. They are the only two three-time representatives for the Wildcats in the fall season.

The men's soccer team were anchored by Steven O'Connor and Joe Woodley for each being a two-time honoree. O'Connor finished with a team high 3.84 GPA through last spring followed by Woodley's 3.78 GPA. Seniors Josh Fawssett (3.79) and Alex Cervo (2.67), and juniors Jamie Burridge (3.52) and Reece Fallon (3.67) were also named to the Fall All-Academic Team.

In addition to DiGiacinto (3.69) and Siolos (3.60), the volleyball team also included two-time honoree Allison Briley (3.95) and sophomore Angela Collins (3.94).

The CACC Championship men's cross country team had two representatives, anchored by two-time honoree junior Ken Fontal (3.67) and sophomore Andrew Milham (3.98).

Junior Kim Richer is the lone representative for the women's soccer team, earning a spot on the team for the second year in a row. Richer has a 3.82 GPA through the end of the 2015 spring semester.

Sixty-eight of the student-athletes were placed on the Fall All-Academic Team for the second time in their career, while 37 honorees were recognized for the third time. Six student-athletes named to the Fall All-Academic Teams recorded perfect 4.0 cumulative grade points averages.
