Men’s Cross Country Slotted Eighth in Latest USTFCCCA East Region Poll

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University men's cross country team is heading into the NCAA Division II National Championship Preview Event this weekend ranked as the No. 8 team in the East Region, as the second week of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Polls have been released.

Without running last weekend, the Wildcats dropped a spot to No. 8 in the East. The only other program from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in the poll is Jefferson who moved up a spot to No. 9 this week.

Southern Connecticut State stayed put as the No. 1 team in the East, and remains as the only team from the East in the Top 25 of the National Poll, staying put at No. 24.

Roberts Wesleyan made the biggest jump in the week, moving up two spots to No. 2 in the East. Stonehill dropped a spot to No. 3 while American International did the same to No. 4. Southern New Hampshire and Franklin Pierce remain at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, while Assumption jumps Wilmington into the No. 7 spot.

The two CACC counterparts are sitting at No. 8 and 9 while St. Thomas Aquinas drops a spot to No. 10 to round out the East Region.

The Wildcats head to Sacramento, California, to take part in the Capital Cross Challenge at the Arcade Creek Golf Course. The course is the site of the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship on Saturday, November 23.
