Men’s Cross Country Ranked No. 8 in Latest USTFCCCA East Region Poll

NEWARK, Del. - - Focusing on postseason meets, the Wilmington University men's cross country teams wrap up the regular season ranked No. 8 in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Poll.

The weather played a role in what was supposed to be the final regular season meet for the Wildcats on Saturday, as they cancelled their trip to the NJIT Highlander Invite and instead ran a practice run on Belmont Plateau on Philadelphia. The Wildcats are preparing for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship being held on Belmont Plateau on October 22.

The combination of the idle weekend and the strong showing by Bentley in the NEICAAA Championships jumped the Falcons from ninth to fifth, pushing the Wildcats down a spot to No. 8 this week. Roberts Wesleyan remains atop the East Region Poll while Franklin Pierce and Southern Connecticut swapped spots with the Ravens now at No. 2 and the Owls at No. 3.

The Wildcats are joined by one other CACC program in this week's Top 10, as Georgian Court jumped into the No. 10 spot.

The women's 5K championship race starts at 9:00 p.m. while the men's 8K championship race follows at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 22 in Philadelphia.
