Men’s Cross Country Jumps to No. 4 in Latest USTFCCCA East Region Poll

NEWARK, Del. - - Coming off a championship weekend, the Wilmington University men's cross country team had the biggest leap in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Polls, jumping four spots to No. 4.

The Wildcats won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship on Sunday, defeating Georgian Court by six points. It was the seventh CACC crown for the men's team but the first since 2019.

Southern Connecticut State jumped up to No. 1 this week after winning the Northeast 10 Conference Championship on Sunday. They moved up two spots, as Franklin Pierce slipped three spots from second place to fifth place after finishing second at the NE10 Championship.

Despite winning the East Coast Conference title this weekend as well, Roberts Wesleyan dropped a spot to No. 2 in this week's poll. Daemen placed second at the ECC Championship and moved up a spot to No. 3, just ahead of Wilmington in the poll.

Adelphi finished third at the NE10 Championship to sit in No. 6 in this week's poll, followed by Bentley in both conference meet and this week's Poll at No. 7. Georgian Court finished second at the CACC meet, jumping two spots in this week's poll to No. 8. Assumption finished fifth overall at the NE10 race, falling three spots to No. 9. Molloy placed third at the ECC Championship to enter the poll at No. 10 this week.

They will all meet in two weekends at the NCAA East Regional Championship on Saturday, November 4. They will run a 10K race at the Hopkinton State Fair in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. The top three teams will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships.
