Chris Lopez joined WilmU Athletics in November 2024 after spending the previous six years as the Assistant Director of Athletics for RCSJ-Cumberland. A graduate of Wilmington University and East Carolina University, Chris previously served in two different roles on campus (Enrollment and Student Life) before eventually joining the Athletics Department at Cumberland.
At RCSJ-Cumberland, he was the first point of contact for all recruits to begin the enrollment process (application, financial aid, placement testing, and class registration). Chris monitored the academic standing of all student-athletes and supervised athletic eligibility and compliance for nine NJCAA teams. He also oversaw gameday staff for all athletic events on campus and led the management of the work study program and community service efforts.
Before making his return to the South Jersey area, Chris served as the Graduate Assistant to Football Operations under Head Football Coach Scottie Montgomery at East Carolina University. While working for the football program at ECU in 2017, Chris was part of a recruiting and operations staff that yielded the 6th best recruiting class in the American Athletic Conference. Lopez would go on to be with the program for 3 years while obtaining his Master of Science with a concentration in Sports Management.
Prior to his arrival at East Carolina University, Chris was a student-athlete for Wilmington University as part of the baseball program from 2014 to 2016. During this time, he was part of the first team in school history to win the NCAA Division II East Region and advance to the College World Series in Cary, North Carolina. Lopez was coached and mentored by Head Baseball Coach and Associate Director of Athletics Brian August. Before his three years at Wilmington University, Chris also attended and played Division I baseball at the University of Maryland- Eastern Shore; before transferring after his freshman season.
Chris obtained his Bachelor of Science with a Concentration in Sports Management from Wilmington University while earning All-Academic honors, and his Master’s Degree from East Carolina University. He is from Vineland, NJ, and currently still resides in the area.
