Erin Harvey was promoted to Associate Director of Athletics in August 2019, after serving as Assistant Athletic Director for the previous seven years. As Wilmington’s NCAA Compliance Officer, she certifies the initial and continuing eligibility of the University’s 270 plus student-athletes, and maintains rules compliance by student-athletes, coaches, and staff. The Office of Compliance is charged with ensuring that there is full institutional control in all activities directly and indirectly associated with Wilmington Athletics, and oversees that the department operates in accordance with the rules and regulations as set forth by the NCAA, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and Wilmington University on a daily basis.
Harvey also currently serves as the Athletic Department’s Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and has held that position since 2012. The SWA designation was created by the NCAA in 1981 and is defined as the highest-ranking female involved in the management of an institution’s athletics program. The SWA serves as part of the senior management team and has oversight of both men’s and women’s sports to enhance quality of decision making, ensure gender equity for all sports, and serve as a visible presence and female role model for student-athletes and staff. As SWA, she has been involved in leadership development, serving on conference wide committees and consulted on departmental issues and initiatives.
Prior to her role in athletic administration, Harvey spent ten years as the Sports Information Director of the Wildcats’ eleven intercollegiate programs. During that span, she also spent six seasons as the Head Softball Coach, leading her teams to a combined 157-128-1 record (.551). Harvey’s teams qualified for the CACC tournament in five out of the six seasons with her at the helm. In 2007, she guided the squad to a 31-15 record, a turnaround from 9-31 the previous year, which marked the biggest improvement among all schools in NCAA Divisions I, II, and III. The 2012 CACC Coach of the Year, Harvey’s teams also fared well academically, twice finishing as a National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Top-3 All-Academic Team (2007 & 2012).
Before her tenure as Sports Information Director, Harvey also worked within the Athletic Department handling scheduling and contracts, along with overseeing the departmental and sport specific budgets.
An active administrator within the conference, Harvey served three consecutive terms as the chair of the CACC Senior Woman Administrators Council. She was appointed to the NCAA Legislative Review Committee for a four-year term beginning in January 2025. She currently sits on the conference’s Membership, Diversity, Inclusion, and Unity Committees. Her previous experience includes terms on the following CACC Committees: Championships, Marketing and Promotions (Chair), Needy Student, Constitution and Bylaws, Gender Equity, Scheduling, Strategic Planning, and Intra-Conference Transfer Appeals Committees. Harvey has also completed two terms on the NCAA DII Women’s Tennis East Regional Advisory Committee, as well as served as a Conference Commissioners Association of Compliance Administrators (CCACA) Mentor.
She graduated from the Wilmington University Leadership Institute in 2019. Harvey is also a member of Women Leaders in College Sports and the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and has completed the Division II NAAC Educational Program.
Harvey earned a BS in Sports Management from Wilmington in 2001 and currently resides in New Castle.
