Four Wildcats Named United Soccer Coaches Men’s Soccer All-East Region

NEWARK, Del. - - Four Wilmington University men's soccer standouts added to their 2021 resumes on Wednesday, as the United Soccer Coaches Division II All-Regions teams were announced.

As voted on by the region's head coaches, Shawn Genus was named a First Team All-Region performer while Konstantinos Parisis, Carson Talboys, and Yohan Kim were voted Second Team All-Region.

Shawn Genus (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) finished the season leading the East Region with 21 goals and 48 points. His 21 goals and 48 points also rank second in all of NCAA DII, behind only Wisconsin-Parkside's Rade Novakovich who has 24 goals and 58 points. Six of his goals have gone as game-winners, ranking third in the country. Genus finished with three hat tricks on the year, including three goals in the CACC Tournament Quarterfinal against Felician. He had seven multi-goal games on the year as well.

In his first season as a Wildcat, Konstantinos Parisis (Thessaloniki, Greece) started all 21 games in goal, playing all but 45 minutes in the season. He was the final stopping point for the Wildcats that ended the season with a 0.98 goals against average, and he finished with a .708 save percentage. He finished 10th in all of NCAA DII with eight shutouts on the year. He made a season high six saves in the NCAA Tournament Second Round game against Davis & Elkins and also made five stops at Dominican. He was named the CACC Goalkeeper of the Year as well.

Carson Talboys (Huntersville, N.C.) started all 21 games at centerback for the Wildcats and anchored a defense that allowed 0.98 goals per game on the season. He was also the target on all set pieces and corners, getting on the end for six goals and adding two assists for 14 points. He scored two goals off corners at Jefferson and added an assist in a 4-0 win. He also scored two goals off corners in the second half against Georgian Court. He was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Year as well.

Yohan Kim (Seoul, South Korea) was a consistent force in the midfield for the Wildcats all season long. His tenacity and hard work won the Wildcats a number of set pieces, setting up scoring chances all season long. He scored two goals and two assists on the year, with his goal against Southern Connecticut State going down as the game-winner. He also scored against #16 Gannon and put up assists at Jefferson and at Caldwell.

By virtue of being named First Team All-Region, Genus will now be nominated for the United Soccer Coaches All-American Team which will be announced at a later date.
