Concordia Too Much for Wilmington Women’s Tennis in 7-0 Loss

WILMINGTON, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference leading Concordia on Saturday afternoon at the Delcastle Tennis Center.

The win moves Concordia to 8-0 overall, 6-0 in CACC play, as they prepare for also undefeated Goldey-Beacom (7-0, 7-0 CACC) on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops Wilmington to 2-7 overall and 2-5 in the CACC.

Laura Gil and Sabrina Blasi-Smith made a run at No. 1 doubles, but eventually fell to Angelica Hantzis and Josefina Martin, 6-4. The Clippers took the doubles point with a 6-0 win at No.2. doubles.

Laura Gil again played well at No. 2 singles, but couldn't overcome Angelica Hantzis as the Clipper won the match, 6-4 and 6-4. Andrea Ribalta dropped her match at No. 1 singles, 6-1 and 6-2, while Sabrina Blasi-Smith fell at No. 3 singles, 6-1 and 6-1. Mallory Nolte and Grace Suttera lost their matches at No. 4 and 5 by like scores of 6-0 and 6-0.

The Wildcats have two more regular season matches this before, vying for a CACC Postseason berth. They will head to Caldwell on Tuesday before closing out the regular season against Chestnut Hill on Saturday. The match at the Cougars is set for a 3:00 p.m. first serve.
