NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Following two decisive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victories last week, a pair of Wilmington University men's basketball student-athletes have been named CACC Players of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

For the second time in three weeks, sophomore Miles Gillette (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) has been named the CACC Player of the Week for a pair of double-doubles, while senior Nick Richards (New Castle, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) has been named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Gillette averaged 24 points and 10 rebounds last week by scoring exactly 24 points and 10 rebounds in each contest. He led the team in scoring in each match, shooting 48.7 percent for the week. He also went 7-of-9 from the foul line for the week, adding four assists, and a steal in the two wins.

In the Wildcats' matchup against Jefferson, Gillette shot 9-of-18 from the floor, including 2-of-4 from three-point range, and 4-of-5 from the foul line for 24 points. He grabbed five offensive and five defensive rebounds for his seventh double-double-double of the year. He came back to shoot 10-of-21 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the foul line at Nyack on Saturday, again leading the team in scoring with his 24 points. He secured his eighth double-double of the year with five offensive and five defensive rebounds as well.

Richards did it from both ends of the floor last week, not only averaging 20 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, but also averaging 3.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. He shot 60.7 percent from the floor for the week in playing all but two minutes in two games.

The senior put in 19 points on 9-of-16 shooting in the rout of Jefferson on Tuesday, adding six rebounds to go with two steals, a blocked shot, and two assists. He came back on Saturday and shot 8-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the foul line at Nyack, scoring 21 points to go with five rebounds, five steals, two blocked shots, and four assists. It is the first time this season, and the second time of his career, that Richards has been named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week.

Gillette and Richards will help lead the Wildcats into their next contest on Wednesday night, as they head to Holy Family looking for the regular season sweep of the Tigers. Tip-off in Philadelphia is scheduled for approximately 8:00 p.m.
