BOCA RATON, Fla. - - Lynn collected 14 hits on its way to a 9-1 victory over the Wilmington University baseball team on Tuesday afternoon at the Lynn Baseball Field.

The Fighting Knights (10-8) got off to a quick start against the Wildcats (2-6), scoring a run in the bottom of the first before jumping out to a 4-0 lead after the first two frames. The home team then added a pair in the fifth before capping the scoring with a three-run sixth inning.

Freshman Kendall Small sparked the offense on Tuesday, batting 3-for-4 in the game. Small picked up the Wildcats' first hit of the game in the second inning with a single into left center before doubling over the head of the left fielder in the sixth. Small finished the game with a single into right to start the top of the ninth.

The Wildcats cut the deficit to 4-1 in the top of the third, getting an RBI from Max Carney. Freshman Frank Nigro started the inning with his first collegiate hit before the Wildcats had the bases loaded with one out following an error off the bat of Julian Kurych and a single by Christian Adorno. Carney then lined one to right, but the right fielder made a running catch to minimize the damage to a single run on the sacrifice fly.

Starter Zach Frederick was saddled with the loss after tossing 4.0 innings while allowing six runs on 11 hits. Chris Lopez gave up three runs in 2.0 innings before Mike Torres and Noah Latshaw tossed a pair of scoreless innings to close out the game.

The Wildcats return to action on Wednesday night, as they travel to another Florida school for a nonconference, non-regional matchup at St. Thomas (Fla.). The game in Miami Gardens, Fla., is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. first pitch.
