Nationally Ranked No. 22 Holy Family Takes Down Women’s Basketball

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division leading Holy Family led wire-to-wire in a 75-42 victory over the Wilmington University women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon inside the Campus Center.

Holy Family stayed atop the South Division, improving to 20-4 on the season and 12-1 in CACC play. They continue to lead Jefferson by a game for the South and Dominican by a game for the No. 1 overall seed. The Tigers are ranked No. 22 in this week's D2CSC Women's Basketball National Poll.

The Wildcats (0-23, 0-12 CACC) got on the board with a TyKeisha Hill layup, but then didn't score again until Daja Claiborne hit a turnaround jumper to make it 13-4. That started a 7-0 run for the Wildcats, with Armani Bell-Jackson hitting a three-pointer to bring the Wildcats to within 13-9. But the Tigers scored the final five points of the frame, taking an 18-9 lead into the second quarter.

The Tigers scored the opening six points of the second quarter as well, making it an 11-0 spurt to lead 24-9 early in the second. Another 10-1 Tiger run saw the home team take a 36-15 lead before hitting the final three-pointer of the half to grab a 44-18 lead at the break. Jasmine McDuffie scored all nine points for the Wildcats in the second quarter.

The Tigers extended the lead in the third quarter by winning the frame, 21-11, leading 65-29 going into the final frame. The Wildcats would go on to win the fourth quarter though, 13-10, with Jasmine McDuffie and Daja Claiborne scoring four points each in the quarter. Armani Bell-Jackson hit her second three-pointer of the game for three points in the quarter while TyKeisha Hill added a bucket as well.

Jasmine McDuffie led the Wildcats with 16 points, hitting a pair of three-pointers and going 8-for-10 from the foul line. She also added two blocks and a steal in the loss. Daja Claiborne scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, adding a team-high seven rebounds. TyKeisha Hill grabbed six rebounds while Samiyah McFarlane dished out a team high four assists.

The Wildcats return to action on Monday night for their final nonconference contest of the year. They host Penn State Brandywine at the WU Athletics Complex on Monday night with a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
