WILMINGTON, Del. - - The Wilmington University men's soccer team wrapped up its regular season with a 4-2 road victory at crosstown rival Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday, securing the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament.

Malthe Hannesbo scored twice for the Wildcats (8-5-4, 6-3-2 CACC) as they have gone 2-0-1 over the final three games of the regular season to jump into the top four and will now host a CACC Tournament First Round Game on Monday. They will now host Jefferson at the WU Athletics Complex with a 1:00 p.m. start.

The scoring didn't start until the 32nd minute, as Sebastian Agerschou converted off a corner to give the Wildcats the 1-0 lead. Diego Ramirez sent a corner into the box and Agerschou headed home his second goal of the year. But the Lightning answered back before the half, finding the equalizer in the 40th minute as the teams went into the break tied, 1-1.

It didn't take as long for the scoring to start in the second half, as the Wildcats broke it open with three goals in a 12-minute span. With the first corner of the half, Max Norden took care of it himself, bending the ball into the side netting at the back post with his left foot for his second goal of the season in the 47th minute.

Malthe Hannesbo then scored the first of his two goals in the 52nd minute, going top shelf from atop the 18-yard box after a centering pass from Caesar Knapp. Hannesbo then made it 4-1 with his second goal in seven minutes, against collecting a pass from Caesar Knapp atop the 18-yard box and finishing the shot for his ninth goal of the season.

Goldey-Beacom got one goal back in the 63rd minute, as Eduardo Coimbra caught the defense and the goalkeeper off guard, blasting a ball from about 10 yards into their own zone, beating everyone for his ninth goal of the year.

The Wildcats outshot the Lightning, 16-5, for the match, including 5-3 in shots on goal. Charlie Phillips made one save in goal for the win.

Since a 2-1 loss at Jefferson on September 27 which put them at 1-4-2, the Wildcats went 7-1-2 to close out the season and jump back into the top of the CACC standings. The Wildcats and Rams will once against face each other, this time in the postseason.
