Bowling Wraps Up Inaugural CACC Meet with Highest Pinfall, Goes 6-4 Overall

ROCKAWAY, N.J. - - The Wilmington University bowling team wrapped up the inaugural Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Regular Season Meet with five Baker matches on Sunday, going 6-4 in head-to-head but led the tournament in total pinfall, hosted by Bloomfield at Rockaway Lanes this weekend.

The Wildcats went into Sunday with a 279-pin lead over fourth place Felician and a 445-pin lead over Caldwell, who was tied with the Wildcats with a 4-1 record.

The Wildcats went 2-3 in Baker matches on Sunday, dropping their first two matches of the day to Chestnut Hill and Felician. They came back and beat Holy Family and Bloomfield but then ended the day with a close loss, 838-831, to Caldwell. The Wildcats collected 4,190 total pinfall on Sunday, the second most among the six teams.

The Wildcats finished atop the leaderboard in total pinfall for the weekend, collecting 8,769 total pins among the 10 matches. They averaged a 175.4 between the Traditional and Baker style matches, over six pins more per match than Felician who also finished with a 6-4 record. Caldwell and Chestnut Hill each went 8-2 in the tournament, but finished third and fourth, respectively, in total pinfall. The Wildcats had 312 more pins than Felician, and 362 more than Caldwell.

Wilmington enters a deeper field with its next tournament, as they travel to the always tough NCAA Division I heavy UMES Hawk Classic starting on Friday. Hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, the three-day tournament will be at the Bowl America in Woodbridge, Virginia starting on Friday.
