CALDWELL, N.J. – The Wilmington University women's soccer team fell to Caldwell University, 2-1, in its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field.
Redshirt senior La'Dae Boykin got the Wildcats (1-3, 0-1 CACC) started with her first goal of the season and the first goal of the game in just the sixth minute off a pass in front of the net from teammate Cassidy McErlain. The lead lasted all but a minute as Caldwell answered right back to tie the game at one a piece on a shot by Carolyn Salus in the seventh minute. The Cougars then put the ball in the back of the net in the 28th minute on a loose ball in the box to give them the 2-1 advantage for the rest of the game.
WilmU's Rebecca Dolhansky had three shots on goal, with one hitting the crossbar in the 41st minute. Krysta Memis had three shots with two going on goal for the Wildcats, as Jasmine Brake and Cassidy McErlain both had one shot on goal.
Goalkeeper Kate Tubo made eight saves for Wilmington.
Up next, the Wildcats travel to Mercy College on Wednesday, September 12 for a 4 p.m. matchup against the 1-1 Mavericks.
