Sierra Bartley Scores Twice in 2-0 Shutout at Felician

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - - Sierra Bartley scored both goals of a 2-0 shutout, leading the Wilmington University women's soccer team to a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Felician on Sunday afternoon at Tryon Field.

The win keeps the Wildcats (7-1-6, 4-0-5 CACC) in fourth place in the CACC standings, now with 17 points. Jefferson (22 points), Chestnut Hill (21), and Caldwell (19) are the only teams above the Wildcats in the standings with two conference games to play.

Sierra Bartley first truck from distance, scoring her fifth of the season in the 18th minute. She took a throw in from Sophia Filipowski and turned centrally. She put the ball on her left foot and blasted it from 25 yards out, beating the goalkeeper to the near side for the 1-0 lead.

Bartley then scored her second goal of the game in the 68th minute, making it her first multi-goal game of the season. Evelyn Payne did the majority of the work on the play, stealing a pass from the goalkeeper and driving down the right wing. She stopped on a dime on the endline and passed it back towards the penalty spot. Bartley was there to one-time it home for the 2-0 lead.

The Wildcats outshot the Golden Falcons, 11-7, and took more corners, 5-0, Arianna Myers made four saves for her fourth shutout of the season.

Wilmington will host a key game atop the CACC standings this week, hosting Chestnut Hill on Tuesday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex. The team will honor its three seniors prior to the start of the contest. The opening whistle is set for 3:30 p.m.
