Godwin Named Honorable Mention NCBWA All-American

NEW CASTLE, DE – Wilmington University is pleased to announce that baseball standout Mike Godwin (A.I. duPont HS/Hockessin, DE) was recently named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) Honorable Mention All-American for his performance this past season.

Godwin, a junior catcher, was the CACC Player of the Year, after hitting .355 with 23 extra base hits.  A first-team All-Conference selection, he drove in 45 and scored 32 runs while leading the league in doubles (20), RBI, and finishing second in the conference in batting.  Godwin also was awarded 1st Team NCBWA and 2nd Team American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-East Region honors.  He becomes the fourth Wildcat from the baseball program to be awarded All-American accolades since Wilmington made the move to the NCAA in the fall of 2003. 

His efforts helped lead Wilmington to a 37-12 overall record, including a 15-5 mark in the CACC.  The 'Cats won the CACC Championship, and earned a berth to the NCAA East Regional Tournament.
