PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - With a 3-0 loss at Jefferson on Thursday night, the Wilmington University volleyball team secured the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division's Third Seed for the postseason.
Set scores for the match were 25-17, 25-22, and 25-22.
Thursday wrapped up the regular season for the Wildcats, as they are now 16-13 overall and 10-6 in the CACC. They will travel to Felician in the First Round of the CACC Tournament on Tuesday, November 14, as the Golden Falcons are locked into the North Division's No. 2 seed. The Wildcats defeated the Golden Falcons, 3-2, on the road on October 21.
The service game was working for the Rams (15-10, 11-3 CACC) on Thursday, as they collected 14 aces and held the Wildcats to hitting .100 for the match.
Alex Serna led the Wildcats with eight kills in only two sets while not committing an error. She hit .615 for the match, going 8-for-13 swings. She also added two block assists for a team high nine points. Shannen Litten and Cailyn Smiley added four kills each while Smiley added 12 digs and Litten chipped in with two block assists as well.
Katie Bushong dished out 23 assists and added 11 digs for the double-double. Bushong also had a team high two aces in the match. Elly Collins finished with 15 digs. Karalyn Osborne had a team high three block assists.
Jefferson captured the CACC South Division Regular Season crown while Chestnut Hill will be the No. 2 seed in the postseason. Holy Family and Georigan Court are deadlocked in fourth place with one match left in the regular season for both teams.
