Six Wildcats Garner All-CACC Baseball Honors; Wilmington Sweeps Player, Pitcher, and Rookie of the Year Categories

NEW CASTLE, DE -- Wilmington University is pleased to announce that Joe Harris (Daniel Boone HS/Douglassville, PA), Mike Godwin (A.I. DuPont HS/Hockessin, DE), Jordan Oncay (St. Mark's HS/Newark, DE), Matt Umba (Gloucester Catholic HS/West Deptford, NJ), Jamie Treml (Hodgson Vo-Tech HS/Newark, DE), and Kurt Bruce (Patuxent HS/Lusby, MD) have earned All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) honors for their performances this past season.

Godwin, a junior catcher, was named CACC Player of the Year after hitting .333 with 18 extra-base hits, 38 RBIs, and 28 runs scored.  A First-Team All-CACC selection, he led the conference in RBIs and doubles (16).  Godwin was also a first-team award winner last season.

Harris, a senior left-handed pitcher, was tabbed CACC Pitcher of the Year for the second consecutive season.  He went 7-2 with a 1.64 earned run average.  A First-Team All-CACC selection, he tied for the conference lead in strikeouts (81), while opponents hit just .184 off of him. 

Treml, a freshman left-handed pitcher, earned CACC Rookie of the Year honors, while being named Second-Team All-Conference.  He went 8-1 with a 1.99 ERA, and led the CACC in wins, while tying for the lead in strikeouts (81).  Opponents hit 1.68 off of him, and he ranked eighth in NCAA Division II in fewest hits allowed per nine innings (5.12). 

Umba, a senior utility player, along with Oncay, a junior outfielder, were also First-Team All-CACC selections.  Umba led the 'Cats in hitting with a .372 average, while also topping the squad in hits (58) and on-base percentage (.456).  He was second on the team in RBIs (31), stolen bases (18), total bases (79), and slugging percentage (.506), while finishing third in runs (36), walks (21), and doubles (11).  Oncay, was second on the team in batting (.364), runs (37), doubles (14), RBIs (31), walks (21), and hits (56), while finishing third in stolen bases (15).  He led the team in total bases (82) and slugging percentage (.532). 

Bruce, a senior right-handed pitcher, earned Second-Team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season after going 5-2 with a 2.59 ERA. 

These six Wildcats held lead Wilmington to a 34-10 overall record, including a 15-5 mark in the CACC.  The 'Cats have been regionally ranked all season, and have spent numerous weeks in the national poll.  Wilmington will be the number two seed in the upcoming conference tournament, hosted by the 'Cats later this week.
