NEW CASTLE, Del. - - The Central Atlantic Collegiate College baseball tournament started on Tuesday with a pair of play-in games, but the true tournament begins on Thursday as four teams will vie for the CACC automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship in a double-elimination format starting at Wilson Field.

The opening round games will be played at Wilson Field on Thursday, starting with No. 1 Felician taking on No. 4 Bloomfield at 12 p.m., followed by #2 Wilmington taking on #3 Dominican at 3 p.m.

The tournament shifts over to Frawley Stadium, home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks, on Friday with three games, while the CACC Champion will be crowned on Saturday, with the right to represent the CACC in the East Regional.

Scouting the No. 2 Wilmington University Wildcats:
Wilmington comes into the tournament as the hottest teams in the CACC, having won 11 consecutive CACC contests dating back to a doubleheader sweep at Felician on April 1. Since that sweep, the Wildcats have gone 16-4 overall, 7-0 at home, 9-3 on the road and 11-0 in the CACC. They catapulted from the bottom third of the league standings to earning a first round bye in Tuesday's play-in games.

The Wildcats have also had one of the hottest hitters in the CACC during that stretch as Joe Harbach has hit .425 (31-for-73) to lead the charge. On the hill, Dave Hatt has a 3-0 record with a miniscule 0.69 ERA in five games (three starts) to lead a staff of an overall ERA of 2.40 since April 2.

Harbach outshined the league all season long and was recognized for his play by being voted as the CACC Player of the Year earlier this week. The Wildcats led all teams by having seven members voted to the All-CACC teams. Joining Harbach on the First Team All-CACC were BJ Janney, Mike Godwin, and Jordan Oncay. Jamie Treml, Justin DeLong and Adam Soley were voted to the All-CACC Second Team.

Harbach led the team (and the CACC) in almost every major offensive category this year. He batted .404 while starting centerfield in all 45 games this season. He collected 67 hits, 14 doubles, six triples, four home runs, 40 RBI's, and 34 runs scored while slugging .633 and reaching base a remarkable 49.8 percent of the time.  He also had 10 stolen bases on the season.

Janney was second on the team with a .400 batting average while Godwin was second on the team with 12 doubles and 29 RBI's. Soley batted .311 with a team leading five home runs and added 12 doubles and 21 RBI's.

On the hill, Oncay put a stop to every game his accounted for, leading the CACC with nine saves. He had a team low 1.61 ERA in 16 appearances while going 5-0 in 22.1 innings. The closer recorded 27 strikeouts while only issuing eight walks. Treml was the team's number one starter all season and went 4-2 with a 2.17 ERA and a CACC second best 74 strikeouts. DeLong had a CACC high seven wins while recording 60 strikeouts in 57 innings of work. Dave Hatt has a CACC low 1.70 ERA for starters, going 4-1 in eight starts, pitching a team high 63.2 innings and two complete games.

Scouting the No. 3 Dominican College Chargers:
Dominican earned the third seed in the CACC Tournament after finishing the regular season with a 13-7 conference mark and a 26-24 overall record. The Chargers swept Bloomfield in their final CACC regular season matchup to move ahead of the Deacons and into third place.

The Chargers advanced to the double-elimination portion of the CACC Tournament with a 6-5 win over No. 6 Caldwell at home on Tuesday. The Chargers scored three runs in the bottom of the first to get the ball rolling, by Caldwell stormed back and eventually tied it with a two-run seventh inning.

Still tied in the bottom of the ninth, Dominican's Tyler Sadawske worked a one out walk to kick start the inning. Tony Blake was hit by a pitch to put two runners on with one out and the Chargers advanced as Andrew Camardella reached on an error by the shortstop to allow Sadawske to score with the unearned walk-off run.

Camardella led the Chargers against Caldwell by going 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBI's and a run scored. Xavier Bonilla went 2-for-4 with a run scored while four other Chargers tallied a hit. Dominican used three pitchers on Tuesday while Justin Moore started and tossed the first 5.1 innings. Anthony Pastrana came on and threw the next 1.2 innings before turning it over to Matthew Festa for the final two innings.

The Chargers had three players named to the All-CACC teams as Camardella earned first team and Blake and Oliver Christensen were voted Second Team All-CACC.

Carmadella leads the team with a .350 batting average, 56 hits and 26 doubles. He has knocked in 33 RBI's while scoring 33 more. Blake is second on the team with a .316 average but leads the Chargers with five home runs, 35 RBI's and 38 runs scored. He is also 13-for-14 on stolen base chances. Christensen is the only play to have played in all 50 games for Dominican and batted .260 with 52 hits. He was second on the team with 37 runs scored and 15 stolen bases.

Moore has started the most games on the mound for the Chargers with nine starts and is 4-0 with a 3.05 ERA. Dustin Javins has also started nine games for Dominican and carries a 3.64 ERA and a 3-3 record. He has 53 strikeouts and 25 walks on the season. Caleb Whiteley and Pastrana have each started eight games. Whiteley leads the starters with a 2.48 ERA in 10 appearances, striking out 39 batters in 58 innings.
