Wilmington in Fourth After Opening Round of St. Thomas Aquinas Spring Invitational

BERLIN, Md. - - After the first round of the St. Thomas Aquinas Spring Invitational, the Wilmington University golf team is seven shots back, shooting a 302 at the Rum Pointe Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats are seven shots off the lead, held by Dominican as they shot a 295 (+7). Concordia sits in second after shooting a 297 while host St. Thomas Aquinas is third with a 301 (+13).

The Wildcats are tied with Bentley and the College of St. Rose in fourth place after the first round. The tournament wraps up with another 18-holes on Sunday.

Wilmington was led by Ryan Rucinski who posted a 71 (-1) on Saturday, sitting in a tie for fourth overall. Zac Moore is in a tie for 16th overall after shooting a 75 (+3) while Enrique Valverde is in a tie for 25th overall after shooting a 77 (+5).

Sergio Ronchel wrapped up the Wildcats' scoring with a 79 (+7), sitting in a tie for 39th overall. Braden McKay was the final Wildcat in the scoring five to play, finishing in a tie for 52nd overall with an 83 (+11).

Playing as in individual, senior Matthew Kettleson is in a tie for 7th overall, posting an even round score of 72 on Saturday.
