Men’s Basketball All-Time Leading Scorer Tyaire Ponzo-Meek (17’) Named to D2 East Hoops Second Team All-Decade

NEWARK, Del. - Wilmington University men's basketball all-time leading scorer Tyaire Ponzo-Meek was named Second Team on the first ever D2EastHoops Regional All-Decade Team by D2 East Hoops' Chris Granozio and Steve Zerdelian.

Ponzo-Meek (2013-17) was one of 10 nominees to make the list on D2 East Hoops' Second Team All-Decade. The 5-11 guard from Wilmington, Delaware is the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,808 points, while also finishing his career ranked in the top spot in nine other categories, including points in a season with 660; field goals made in a career with 618; and three-point field goals made in a career with 170.

Along with his record breaking stats, Ponzo-Meek was a two-time Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference First Team honoree, while being selected the CACC Player of the Year in 2017, which is the only CACC Player of the Year Award winner in program history. He was also the first player in program history to be named Al-Region, earning a First Team nod by the D2CCA and NABC organizations as a senior in 2016-17.

Ponzo-Meek helped lead the 2014-15 squad to the CACC Tournament Championship game as the South Division's No. 4 seed, and the program's first ever home playoff game with the program's best ever record (191-0, 14-5 CACC) as senior.

Amongst the top names in the decade was red shirt senior Jermaine Head, who was listed among players who are still actively playing in the East Region. Head is currently six points away from tying Tyaire Ponzo-Meek's career high in points with two games left in the 2019-20 regular season. The red shirt senior already broke Ponzo-Meek's career high in steals, currently sitting with 196, while also breaking the all-time career assists record with 430.

Tyaire Ponzo-Meek was one of three CACC players to be named to the First and Second All-Decade Team, which included Bloomfield's Ahmad Harris and Jefferson's Peter Alexis. Two-time National Player of the Year and USciences great Garret Kerr was named the Player of the Decade.
