Men’s Lacrosse Ranked Third in 2020 Preseason Coaches’ Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the second straight year, the Wilmington University men's lacrosse team earned the third spot in the 2020 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference this morning.

The Wildcats had their best season as a program in just their second season last year, ending with an overall record of 8-7 with a record of 3-2 in the CACC. Wilmington earned a total of 24 votes to round out the top three spots in the league.

CACC reigning champions, Georgian Court would earn the No. 1 spot in the Preseason Poll with a total of 34 points, including four first place votes. The 2019 CACC Runner Up Chestnut Hill was one point behind, as they earned a total of 33 points, with a total of three first place votes.

Following the Wildcats in the fourth place spot is Dominican, who earned 22 points, with Post rounding out the top five with 17 points. The final two spots were rounded out by first year program, Caldwell with nine points in the sixth spot, and Felician, who rounded out the Poll in the seventh spot with eight points.

The CACC Tournament will include the top four teams in the conference at the end of the regular season this year and be held at the CACC Festival starting on Thursday, April 30 at Georgian Court.

The men will begin their season two weeks from today on Wednesday, February 19 at home against Roberts Wesleyan. Opening faceoff is at 1:00 p.m.
