Four Wildcats Garner All-CACC Softball Honors 

NEW CASTLE, DE -- Sophomore hurler Katie Turner (Smyrna HS/Smyrna, DE) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference softball first team, while Nicole Hays (C. Milton Wright HS/Bel Air, MD), Kristin Tomlinson (Sussex Central HS/Millsboro, DE) and Lindsay Watson (Sussex Central HS/Georgetown, DE) received second-team honors. 

Turner, a sophomore right-hander, went 16-8 with a 1.18 ERA in 30 appearances.  She led the CACC in earned run average and saves (4), while she was second in wins (16), opponents' batting average, and strikeouts.  In 166 innings pitched, Turner struck out 139 while only walking 44, and her opponents hit a dismal .208 against her.   

Hays, a senior shortstop, finished the year hitting .389 with 31 runs scored, 15 extra-base hits, and 36 RBIs.  She led the conference with 16 stolen bases, was fourth in home runs (7), fifth in hits (58), and sixth in total bases (89).  Hays led the Wildcats in batting, slugging percentage (.597), on-base percentage (.420), total bases, home runs, RBIs, stolen bases, finished second in runs, and played every inning of every game at shortstop. 

Tomlinson, a freshman outfielder, closed out the season with a .333 average.  She recorded 22 RBIs and15 runs scored.  Tomlinson was second on the team in batting, slugging percentage (.462), and third in on-base percentage (395)

Watson, a sophomore third baseman, finished the year hitting .274 with a team-leading 37 runs scored.  She led the team with 10 doubles, and was second with 46 hits and 11 stolen bases.  Known for her defensive prowess at the hot corner, she was one of the top fielders in the conference. 

The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 16-8 record in the CACC and an overall record of 29-19.  Wilmington finished fifth in the regular season and also qualified for the CACC Playoffs for the second consecutive year.
