NEW CASTLE, DE – Wilmington University pitcher Katie Warrington (Red Lion Christian Academy/Townsend, DE) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-Conference on Tuesday, after the league's 14 head coaches conducted the voting.

Warrington, a sophomore transfer from Liberty University, had an outstanding season for the Wildcats.  She posted a 15-7 record with an astounding 0.78 earned run average, tallying over 220 strikeouts in 153 innings pitched.  Warrington led the conference in ERA, strikeouts, strikeouts per seven innings (10.09), opponents' batting average (.159), fewest hits per seven innings (3.93), fewest extra base hits (14), and saves (3).  She was second in the CACC in shutouts (6) and fewest walks per seven innings (0.82), while posting the third most wins in the league.

The hurler also ranked among the NCAA leaders in a few statistical categories.  Warrington is fourth in the country in ERA, sixth in strikeouts per seven innings, and sixth in fewest hits per seven innings.  She is also among the top 15 in fewest walks per seven innings.

A three-time pitcher of the week in the CACC, she sported an amazing 12.3 strikeout-to-walk ratio, and opponents hit just .108 off of her with two outs.  Warrington recorded 10 double-digit strikeout games, and set Wilmington single-season records in strikeouts, strikeouts per seven innings, ERA, saves, and shutouts.

Her efforts helped lead the Wildcats to a 17-9 mark in the CACC and an overall record of 27-19.  Wilmington is the fourth seed in the upcoming CACC Tournament, which begins play on Thursday morning at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey.  The 'Cats tangle with the fifth-seeded Cougars of Caldwell College in the opening round on Thursday at noon.
