Softball's Warrington Named to NCAA Daktronics All-East Region First Team

Wilmington University is pleased to announce that softball standout Katie Warrington (Red Lion Christian Academy HS/Townsend, DE) was named to the NCAA Daktronics All-East Region First Team for her performance this past season.  The team was voted upon by the sports information directors of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), East Coast Conference, and the Northeast-10. 

Warrington, a sophomore right-hander went 15-9 with a 0.96 earned run average in 29 appearances.  The CACC Pitcher of the Year and first-team All-CACC selection, she led the CACC in earned run average, saves (4), strikeouts, strikeouts/7 innings (9.60), opponents' batting average, and fewest hits/7 innings (4.23).  In 167.2 innings pitched, Warrington struck out 230 while walking only 19, and her opponents hit a dismal .170 against her.  She ranked second in the conference in shutouts (6) and fewest walks/7 innings (0.79).  Warrington ranked among NCAA Division II leaders in ERA (7th), saves (7th), fewest walks (11th), strikeouts/7 innings (12th), hits/7 innings (12th), and 18th in total strikeouts.

To go along with her on the field accomplishments, Warrington was also recently named to the ESPN Academic All-District First Team, sporting a 4.0 grade point average while majoring in  Sports Management.

Her efforts helped lead the Wildcats to a 29-19 record, including a 17-9 mark in the CACC.  Wilmington finished both the regular season and the post-season fourth in the conference.
