VIDEO: Softball 2023 CACC Champions

For the fourth time in program history, the Wilmington University softball team won the CACC Tournament Championship, coming from the elimination bracket to defeat Georgian Court twice on Saturday. They beat the Lions, 7-3, in game one, using a six-run fourth inning to turn the game over. Kylee Gunkel then threw a complete-game 5-hit shutout to close out the Championship. The Wildcats scored all three runs in the bottom of the first, getting a leadoff homer from Taylor Gillis, an RBI double by Sara Miller, and a two-out RBI single from Haley Downin. The Wildcats also won championships in 2014, 2016, and 2019, all under head coach Mike Shehorn. Delani Sheehan, who tossed a complete game in the opener on Saturday, was named the CACC Tournament MVP. Andrew Bern on the call on the CACC Network.
