Wildcat Freshman Tenicia Spence Named CACC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Freshman standout out Tenicia Spence has been recognized as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the voting period ending November 18, announced the conference office on Monday.

The Wildcats only played one game last week, but Spence led all scorers with 21 points in a loss at Millersville on Saturday. The majority of Spence's points came from the foul line, as the newcomer made 15-of-17 from the charity stripe, falling two makes short of tying the program record for a single game.

Spence (Baltimore, Md./Western) has scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games, adding 19 in the season opener to average 20.0 points in three contests. Her 20.0 scoring average tops the CACC through the first two weeks of the 2012-13 season.

Holy Family's Erin Mann has been honored as the CACC Player of the Week after tallying 20.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks while shooting .500 overall through a pair of games last week. She posted 24 points vs. Queens (N.Y.) and registered 17 points and 14 rebounds vs. East Stroudsburg.

Wilmington has a pair of games this week prior to the Thanksgiving break. The Wildcats will look for its first win of the season and open the CACC schedule on the right foot on Tuesday on the road at Holy Family before heading to NCAA Division I in-state foe Delaware State on Wednesday night.
