NEWARK, Del. - - Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division leading Post pulled away in the second quarter for a 58-33 cross-divisional victory over the Wilmington University women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

The Wildcats (2-21, 1-12 CACC) turned the ball over 27 times, leading to 16 points at the other end for Post (16-10, 11-4 CACC). The Wildcats held an 8-6 lead but trailed 19-14 after the first quarter. A 12-4 second quarter gave Post a 13-point edge at the halftime break.

Trailing 6-4 in the early going, Jade Roberts hit a jumper and then Fatou Ndao laid one in to give the Wildcats an 8-6 lead with 5:15 to play in the first quarter. But the Eagles answered with an 8-0 run to take the lead, 14-8, and never looked back.

Amaja Mack hit a pull up jumper to bring the Wildcats to within 21-17 with 5:43 to play in the second quarter, but the Eagles closed out the rest of the quarter on a 10-1 run to take a 31-18 lead into the halftime break.

Mack hit a three-pointer to bring the Wildcats to within 39-23 with 7:05 to play but the Eagles rattled off a 9-3 run to take a 48-26 lead. Emani Lucas-Davis started the fourth quarter with a layup and then had an offensive putback for another bucket, but that would be all the Wildcats could muster in the fourth quarter, unable to make the comeback.

Emani Lucas-Davis came off the bench and secured her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in just 14 minutes of action. Amaja Mack finished with seven points while Jade Roberts scored seven points and added seven rebounds and two blocked shots. Daja Claiborne added four points, six rebounds, and four assists.

The Wildcats remain home with their next contest, welcoming Queens to Newark for their final nonconference game of the year on Wednesday night. The women start the doubleheader with a 5:00 p.m. start at the WU Athletics Complex.
