Sydney Jones Named CACC Bowler of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Finishing second at the Seahawk Invite has landed Wilmington University bowler Sydney Hicks as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Bowler of the Week, as announced by the conference office last week.

The sophomore helped lead the Wildcats to a second place finish, continuing the team's strong start to the 2022-23 season. the Wildcats claimed second to Saint Francis (Pa.) with a total pinfall of 8,812 for a 50-game average of 176.2. They were more than 200 pins better than Molloy who finished in third place. St. France (Pa.) ran away with the tournament with a 9-0 record and a total pinfall of 9.157 (183.1 per game).

Sydney Jones (Middletown, Del./Caravel Academy) led the Wildcats with a second place overall finish on Sunday, earning her first ever All-Tournament Team selection. She bowled a personal record 1,038 five-match total pinfall, ranking as the seventh best 5-match total in program history. Jones bowled games of 237-237-209-179-178 for a 207.60 average. Her pair of 237's came in wins over Caldwell and Wagner, respectively.

She finished Sunday with a 20.76 frame average in traditional matches and converted on 85.2 percent of her spare opportunities throughout the day (23-of-27).

Jones and the Wildcats are back in action this weekend as they take a short tripe to Millsboro, Delaware to compete in the UMES Hawk Classic. The three-day tournament will be hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore at the Millsboro Lanes.
