Six Wildcats Named to 2023-24 CACC Women’s Tennis All-Academic Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Thirty-three (33) student-athletes were named to the 2023-24 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. All six CACC schools that compete in the sport were represented on the All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for CACC All-Academic status, a student-athlete must: a) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of immediate preceding term (may include summer for fall sport participants); b) Minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) Student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution.

The Wilmington University women's tennis team placed six student-athletes on the postseason academic award, led by four-time honorees Valentina Ivankovic and Larize Nel. Fenna Swaan is a three-time honoree while Jess Purdy is on the list for the second time in her career. Alva Norberg and Marley Trifunovic join the Wildcats on the list for the first time.

CACC playoff participants Post University and Thomas Jefferson University led the way with seven honorees apiece. Defending conference champ Wilmington University was next six and playoff-qualifying team Chestnut Hill College also had six honorees.

NOTES ON ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM:

  • Ten (10) student-athletes to make the squad posted perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point averages.
  • Eighteen (18) student-athletes notched GPAs of 3.90 or higher.
  • WilmU's Valentina Ivankovic and Larize Nel each earned all-academic status for the fourth time in their respective careers.
  • CHC's Lottie Allin, Nele Haag, Jefferson's Stanislava Norets, Manni Zhang and WilmU's Fenna Swaan were named to the team for the third time.
  • Seven were named to the unit for the second time in their respective careers.
  • The four teams to qualify for the CACC post-season tournament combined to have 26 honorees make the all-academic team.
