WILMINGTON, Del. - - A .571 attack percentage in the first and fourth sets carried the Wilmington University volleyball team over cross-town rivals Goldey-Beacom, 3-1, at the Joseph West Jones Center in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Tuesday night.

Set scores for the match were 25-7, 17-25, 25-17, and 25-10.

The win was the fourth straight for the Wildcats (14-8, 9-1 CACC) as they have now won eight of the last nine matches overall. Kadi McCoy picked up 13 kills for the Lightning (4-14, 0-10 CACC) who have dropped eight straight matches.

Freshman Allison Briley led the Wildcats attack with a match high 15 kills. She collected a double-double by adding 10 digs on the night. Kaitlin DiGiacinto also picked up a double-double, collected 11 kills and 15 digs on the night.

Wilmington jumped all over the Lightning in the first set, taking leads of 9-1, 13-2, and 19-5, before another four point swing gave the Wildcats a 23-5 advantage. Alex Siolos put away the first set with a kill, winning the first game 25-7. The Wildcats collected 13 kills on 21 attempts with only one error, hitting .571 out of the gates.

The Lightning responded in the second set by jumping out to an 8-1 lead and never looked back, equaling the match at 1-1 with a 25-17 second set win.

The Wildcats were back at it once again in the third set, however, as they scored the first six points before taking leads of 13-5 and 16-8 in the game. Back-to-back kills by Briley gave the Wildcats set point at 24-13, but the Lightning wouldn't roll over as they scored four consecutive points. Siolos again ended the set for the Wildcats with a kill, giving the visitors two games to one lead with a 25-7 third set victory.

The fourth set was all Wilmington once again, as the Wildcats used a string of seven consecutive points and 15 of 17 points to take a commanding 22-7 lead in game. After the Lightning collected back-to-back points, Katie Shorter, Briley, and Hannah Karas put down kills on three of the next four points to end the set, 25-10, and the match, 3-1. The Wildcats collected 17 kills on 28 swings, while only committing one error to hit .571 in the final game.

Siolos was one dig away from her second triple-double of the season, as she added 11 kills to the offense, dishing out a match high 22 assists, and chipping in with nine digs.

Wilmington returns to action and to the WU Athletics Complex on Saturday. The Wildcats will look to redeem themselves against the Chargers who knocked them out of the CACC Tournament Championship match a season ago. The first set is scheduled to take place at 12 p.m.
