Wilmington Volleyball Takes Down USciences, 3-1, For Fifth Straight Victory

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The Wilmington University volleyball team battled past a resilient USciences squad, earning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory, 3-1, for its fifth straight victory on Wednesday night inside Bobby Morgan Arena.

Set scores for the set were 25-23, 22-25, 25-16, and 25-22.

The Devils (4-12, 3-8 CACC) out hit the Wildcats (17-6, 10-2 CACC), .152-.121, collected more kills, 49-48, more blocks, 10-9, and out dug the Wildcats, 109-92. The Wildcats held the advantage in service aces, 7-4, while the Devils committed 13 service errors.

The Wildcats' best hitting set came in the opening game, as they put down 18 kills and hit .245. They hit .120 in the second set, .130 in the third, and -.022 in the fourth and final set.

Allison Briley led the Wildcats' offense with 15 kills, adding 13 digs for the double-double. Alex Siolos was the only other Wildcat to reach double digit kills, collecting 10 to go along with nine digs, five assists, and three solo blocks.

Miranda Shaw dished out 36 assists on the night, adding 18 digs for the double-double while also picking up four kills without committing an error. Kaitlin DiGiacinto led the back row with 22 digs. Shelby Henderson chipped in with 21 digs to round out the team in double figures.

Of the team's nine blocks, eight of them were of the solo variety. In addition to Siolos' team leading three, Eile Harris and Erin Bistany picked up two solo blocks each. DiGiacinto had the final solo block. Harris and DiGiacinto combined for the lone block assist of the night.

The Devils' Desirae Lair led the way with 19 kills while Nicole Rivera led all players with 32 digs.

The Wildcats remain on the road for one more contest, as they take their five-game winning streak into the weekend. The Wildcats head to Caldwell for a 4:30 p.m. start.
