Wildcats’ Mark Corrigan Named CACC Runner of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - After winning the 17th Annual Wilmington University Cross Country Invite, newcomer Mark Corrigan has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Runner of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

In his first race as a Wildcat, Corrigan raced to victory at Carousel Park with an 8K time of 28:22.07. He was over 45 seconds faster than the next runner, running at a 5:42.4 mile pace. He helped lead the Wildcats to a victory in the team's first race of the season, leading the Wildcats to 24 points and a victory over Holy Family by 17 points.

A couple other Wildcats stood out during their opening weekend of play, as the following have each been named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll for their respective sports:

Senior runner Rachel Jones finished second in the women's 5K race at the 17th Annual WUXC Invite to claim a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll. She finished in 21:03.39 to help the Wildcats to an overall first place finish.

Women's soccer's Kierstyn Williams recorded a 1-0 shutout over Roberts Wesleyan while making 11 saves in two games last week. She made five saves in the shutout victory to earn a spot on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.

Volleyball's Jillian Braunsberg was named to the Hoffman Memorial Invitational All-Tournament Team after leading the Wildcats with 28 kills (2.15 kills per set). She also dished out 51 assists and added 45 digs in four sets, helping the Wildcats to a 1-3 record.
